Fifty Two Pieces: Early Hour by Karl Hofer →
This is one of my favorite paintings at the Portland Art Museum.  There isn’t a good picture of it anywhere online, which is why I’m posting a link instead of an image with a link to a source.  I have a feeling that this image from Fifty Two Pieces was taken surreptitiously, when no one was watching. Berthe Morisot by Anne Higonnet →
Berthe Morisot (1841-1895) produced nearly 900 paintings and was the only woman among the original six Impressionists whose first group exhibition scandalized most of Paris. Higonnet draws on the artist’s unpublished diaries and letters to create not only a portrait of a remarkable woman but also vivid portrayls of feminine culture in the late 19th century.
